Since the Air Force and Hickam Community Housing LLC (HCH) entered into a privatization agreement to improve the quality of living standards for Hickam’s Airmen and their Families in 2005, more than 250 new homes have been constructed.

Last year, HCH started renovation of historic homes in the NCO Field area. It is an entire community of historic houses, including museum homes, and is the nation’s largest rehabilitation and restoration project for a single, contiguous historic community.

The character of historic homes will be retained throughout the process, but modern features will be added. They include Energy Star-rated kitchen appliances and central air conditioning. Duplexes will increase by approximately 40 percent in living space and apartment-style homes will increase in the number of bedrooms. Rehabilitation and restoration work will be completed by 2013, and upon completion the NCO Field will have 240 homes exclusively for JNCO and SNCO Families.

Renovation of the Hale Na Koa Community Center, the former NCO Club, is scheduled to begin this year. Residents will be invited to take part in of fitness classes, arts and crafts and many other Family activities. The new Community Center is targeted for completion at the end of 2009.

The NCO Field will be one of the finest renovated neighborhoods on base, and the “Home of the Warriors” team looks forward to proudly serving its Service Members and their Families.
